Project Runway

so, this season of project runway has been a little lackluster for me. not only have the garments the contestants have made thus far been unimpressive (for the most part, there have been some really pretty things made), but the show got extended from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. i think the extra 30 minutes is Lifetime's way of filling their programming slots. the extra time really doesn't add anything extra to the show. if anything, the producers use the extra time to show more of the cat fights and smack talking interviews rather than showing how the designers actually make their pieces. obviously this is just to create more drama rather than focusing on the actual reason they're there. the way they (the producers) are portraying the contestants makes me not really like many of them based on their personalities. the only exception is valerie and peach (the token "old lady" this season).

however, there are a few designers i really like based on the clothes they make. gretchen made the prettiest dress on the first episode. they had to take a random piece of clothing from another contestant's suitcase and turn it into something. gretchen got this really ugly mesh appliqué jacket from contestant april's suitcase. the jacket was hideous (i thought), but the dress she made out of it was very classy and elegant.

there are only two things about this look that i don't like. number one: i wish the length was just above the knee all the way around. i've never been a fan of the uneven/asymmetrical hem. number two: i hate the boot. i think a nice pair of black stilettos or a nude pump would've worked much better. but what do i know... the majority of my clothes are from old navy.

i'm hoping in the next few weeks they trim the fat and we are left with the more creative and inspiring designers.
